We found out yesterday, that Lily's track season is over. For the remaining season, it is the county championship and then from there whoever continues on to regionals and state.
Lily was not selected to attend county for her events so her season was complete on Friday.
Whew, it was an eventful Friday afternoon in Oneonta! I have never been there, so it was fun to see that side of the world. ha! The weather was crazy! It went from cold, dark, dreary, to bright, blue skies, fluffy clouds, sunny and warm...to deep black clouds, thunder, lightning, and heavy rain.
Luckily we only saw the heavy storms from a distance. They literally passed right beside us as we sat and watched. It was a pretty cool experience. I have never been (in one day) seeing almost all the weather elements and changes. It was crazy!
Right when Lily was about to start the 1600, a lightning strike hit and a clap of thunder so we had a delay. Once the delay was over, the sun was bright and the meet was continued.
Lily had her best meet yet to end on!
She had gotten in a slump...........in her own stubborn head....but this time, she was fresh, ready and did the job she was set to do!
She didnt PR, but she ran a 6.27 on the 1600 and then she ran the 4x400 (for the first time) with 3 other girls (in the second heat) they wanted to try two so they could score more team points (I really dont understand that) BUT.......the 1st heat Jville girls came in 1st and Lily's group came in 3rd!
She was pumped!
Claim she loves that and wants to make sure and run it next season.
So, she ended on a great note to finish out her 1st season on Jville Varsity track!
Ready to go! And, note, at this point, the weather was amazing!
She got a medal! 3rd place finish! Her group was Sarah, Bre, Lily and then Gracie! They did a great job working together even though they had never done it before!
She was so happy! We enjoyed a fun dinner and then headed home. It was a pretty good Friday night!
