Our Lily....and an eye update

To know Lily is to love her!

She is always thinking of others and is always trying to do meaningful and thoughtful things for us!

I love every.single.night. how she will come give me the BIGGEST hug and tell me she loves me before she goes to bed. She literally has to complete all of her 'tasks' such as.............making sure her dehumidifier is on, her lamps are off, etc before she comes to say goodnight. If she thinks she has anything else to do.........she does it first because saying 'goodnight' and give us hugs is ALWAYS the very last thing she does.

She does it to both of us. Then....................every.single.night. after she gives us a hug and kiss and tells us goodnight and love you........all the way to her room....she is yelling...'GOODNIGHT...LOVE you...GOODNIGHT!' The whole time to her room! It is the sweetest!

So...she used her own money.....

and bought Tyler and I our Mother and Father's day gifts at school! How thoughtful was she as well! She was dying to go ahead and give the gifts to us! :)

LOVE her note! She got me a notepad to write my grocery list on {because she always sees me making notes when 'new' things need to be added for items I need to get on my next trip!} and then a koozie because she always sees me carrying like 3 bottles at a time of water to work in the mornings and my hands get cold! Well....not anymore!

She got Tyler the screwdriver set {that has 'DAD' on it} {how adorable} because she sees me constantly working on things! ha!

She put so much thought into it all!

Yesterday her and I had a girl's day and it was fabulous! She LOVES PF Changs so we had lunch and hit a few shops before her eye appointment! We had a great day of it being just the two of us!

So.....this appointment marked 6 months of being on the prescription eye drops. Well, Dr. Hall did not see any change like he was expecting. It has not gotten any smaller. Great news is that it has not gotten bigger and it is not affecting her vision..................so the verdict was to continue through the Summer with the drops and see if there is any change.

Well, Lily told Tyler and I that she didnt want to continue with the eye drops...because she hates them {and it is such a pain in the butt to keep up with and do as well} so after we finish out this last bottle...we decided to not continue with the drops.

We will still go to our next visit at the end of July...............but we will just have to tell him that we decided to not continue with the drops at that time. We can keep a check on it and as long as it doesnt get bigger.................doesnt affect her vision................and doesnt hurt her............we are just going to leave it be.

Prayers that those items mentioned continue and we will see/keep a check on it!

She has been so brave through all of this! So proud of her!

Soccer night!

Lily had her soccer game last night! Her season is winding down and last night she had a big cheering section! They played hard but whew.............somehow that other Jville team just dominated last night! It was kind of painful to watch after the first four or so goals. Since we have an off weekend Im sure they will come out the next week strong!

Lily was excited to see everyone!

Ready to play!

How's the pandemic going?

So, how is the pandemic going?

Well, we are into a little over a year and the world is getting a little back to normal but areas are still on lock down and numbers are still spiking in many areas. I have to say, around here.....most everyone I know is now fully vaccinated so wearing our masks has become less and the 'fear' is settling down for the most part! THANK goodness! It is still crazy to think how everything has happened and what all the world has gone through because of COVID. My mind is literally blown with all of it!

So........I thought it was neat to see the above questions and answer my thoughts on the past year of the pandemic!

1. WOW........what was it like?!?

The beginning of 2020 was outstanding! We were kicking off the new year with a bang. The girls were enjoying their 2nd and 6th grade year! We NEVER would have thought that our Spring break would turn into a lot longer than a week! At first we were soooo excited to get to spend the entire week in Pensacola with Brittney, Mitchell and Kennedy! It was a great trip! What blew my mind was literally watching the world shut down by the end of the week. I remember leaving Pensacola and being soooo nervous driving home because there was literally nowhere to stop. All businesses closed. Gas stations wouldnt even let people in. I made it all the way to right outside Montgomery {the girls were troopers!} before we just HAD to stop and I remember the panic I felt as I pulled up to the gas station to get gas. Lily and I had to use the restroom and so I remember knocking on the gas station door {because it was locked} and this older lady actually unlocked it and let us in to go. She stood away from us and I remember telling Lily to 'hold her breath' {like that was going to 'help' with us not getting COVID} as we ran to the bathroom! ha!

2. The biggest change was hands down having the girls at home 24/7 together! Me working from home and trying to juggle that with me having to finish out the school year with Alexis and Lily doing virtual school. It was tough at the beginning but we found our groove and didnt kill each other in the process either! The girls knew...when the dining room light was 'on'.............do NOT come in and ask me a question or anything because I was working or on a zoom or teams meeting and could not be bothered. To help our sanity....the weather could not have been more amazing. We soaked it up and spent so much time together outside and riding our bikes to the trail, etc. We made a lot of sweet memories! We also had our 'quarantine crew' that helped keep us sane too! They all lived in our neighborhood and since none of us could go anywhere....we knew we were all 'safe' so the kids all bounced from one yard to the other. The rules were....you could NOT go into anyone's home. If you had to go to the bathroom...you had to go back to your house. You had to keep your distance and NOT ask for any food! Ha! Those kids could eat everyone out of house and home! So, lunch...snacks...you had to go to your house! You could ask for a drink though! ha! And...popsicles were on regular rotation to be given out! :) And..I did get an extra stock of gummies because I would give those out sometimes {to be the favorite 'Mom'} :) They spent their time riding bikes, jumping...swinging....playing games...hide n seek....and so much more! I would not trade any of that!

3. Whew...my coping mechanisms was just to not watch the news. MY goodness...the news was rough. When I would find myself watching it.....it would just make me sick. SO....we cut the TV off and just kept busy with school and being outside!

4. Our connection was amazing! The girls and I bonded so much during it all. We were all we had! ha! We baked. We crafted/painted. We even worked out together! Tyler still had to work even though his hours were cut a lot and he was home more but he was not with us during most 'day' hours. It was nice that he was home more with us and we enjoyed going to the land in Piedmont and spending time together when he was with us!

5. What I will remember most was the memories with our 'quarantine crew!' Sitting out on each other's patios....spaced out with our chairs just chatting and trying to not think about how the world had gone crazy! Also....we went to the beach more during COVID that we ever had! We also went to Disney right when they opened back up during a pandemic. It was the best trip ever and I still cannot believe the experience we had there with NO crowd and how we felt we were VIP with getting to ride all the rides with no wait and as many times as we wanted! It was amazing!

6. Biggest challenge............grocery shopping! I mean...people are crazy. Period. No toilet paper. None. I still do NOT understand how a pandemic can cause people to think they need to hoard toilet paper! Also food. Shelves were bare. Also...cooking every.single.night. I learned several new staplers for our food rotation but with no restaurants open and us being on 'lock down'..........I had to get creative!

7. A beautiful memory... So many! Just really all of it. Thank the Lord, none of my little family ever got COVID. Lily did have to quarantine because of her teacher {which did make me really nervous thinking she may get it} But....just the fact that I got to stay home with the girls for about 5 months was so special. I always had wanted my girls to have a Summer like I used to have as a child. With my Mom being a teacher...I would get to stay at home during the Summer and get to play and go places, etc and not have to go to 'daycare' every day. Well, my girls never had that and because of the pandemic, they were able to have the best Summer!

8. What do I believe now that I didnt a year ago?!? That it is SO nice to be around people. I love being around people! Just the simple fact that I can be around people and not have to be 'scared.'

9. What  would I do differently? Hmm...honestly nothing. I soaked up every minute of a really scary and bad situation for the world. Many will say that COVID was the worst thing ever. Many lost loved ones. I know several friends and some family members that lost their life to it but overall, I am thankful that I had the opportunity to be with my girls and have the time we did.

10. What will I carry forward? Never take life for granted. Live life to the fullest and to not live in fear. Yes COVID was nerve racking some of the time. It still is to be honest...but I can not live in fear. I must trust God and know that life is too short to not take for granted. Time is precious. Do what makes you happy. The pandemic has been horrible but what I carry forward is that there is always...always...always something to be thankful for! You may have to look a little harder...but there IS good even in the very bad.

Whoooo is the winner....I mean has grown the most?!?!

 Every 6 months...

I tell ya....

it is SOMETHING with Alexis and Lily...

when the day is here to measure how tall they are!

Lily is a whopping 4'4'' and Alexis is 5'2''.........

but......

the winner is..........

Lily!

She has grown the most this time!

Alexis....................though.............

is on my tail! She is an inch away from hitting the 'target Mommy' that is on the wall! ha!

OH....the day when that happens! :) I feel like it may be the next time we check...in 6 months!

We shall see!

See this smile! Yeah...this smile is a smile that says...'I know that I am in trouble!' because she kept trying to raise her feet up to make her taller! Tyler got on to her two times because she kept doing it!

Then...see this face!!?? This is the face of a girl that is telling me that she doesnt have time to smile at me that she has to concentrate and be still to get measured!

You have NO IDEA how serious these two take this! It amazes me....it really does!

Calculating the results! OH the suspense! ha!

A beautiful day with quickshot Lex and fasteyes Lily!

Yesterday turned into a beautiful day....for the most part since we originally thought there were going to be pretty bad storms. But because of the storm chances....soccer was cancelled....and we had no plans but to relax and just do nothing!

We did get cleaned up and headed to Gadsden to run some errands.............and then meet the Messer's and Ray's for dinner before calling it a night!

Today was soooo nice!

We made the most of it!

Church....then Top o' the River ....

then the rest of the afternoon on the land in Piedmont! We love going there! Always fun memories of just us!

Two cute girls on a Sunday after Church and ready for lunch!

We havent checked out the new Starbucks that has hit our town sooooo we surprised them and they were in SHOCK! These two and Starbucks!.....shake my head! ha!
Then changed and hit the land! They shot and then at the end.................the CHALLENGE happened! We named Alexis....quickshot Lex! She hit the top bullseye every shot when we were doing it! She's good!

Doing a happy dance after checking out her can! The challenge was....whoever shot the Ginger ale can first was the ultimate winner!...............

Well....LILY busted that can on the FIRST shot! BOOM! We called Lily fasteyes Lily {we had to have our 'Western' names!} :) ha! because she was quick and fast at hitting that ginger ale!

She was excited....but also ...and I think more excited...to pick flowers and give them to me! :)

Of COURSE we could NOT leave without some driving! Alexis was cracking us up! She kept pretending she was going through drive thrus of different restaurants! She would 'pull up' and then order...and then drive up...to pay...but then would say something sooo funny...like...'WHAT?!?! my card is declined???...what?!?!'

It was so funny!

Lily ....on the other hand...my gracious! She just likes to see how many circles she can go in and how many holes and bumps she can hit! :)

My birthday and Aubies birthday!....and a Book Club membership!

 So...

we are not really sure of Aubie's actual birth .....day...

so...

to help me with remembering it since both girls love to make a BIG deal about it....

I arranged it to be the same week as Tyler and my birthdays! ha! It works perfectly....every year! :)

My birthday was perfection!

Great kicking off the last year before a new decade! :) My little fam played golf and then met Ben and Gran to eat dinner!

And...then last night we went to dinner with the Messers and the Ray's to celebrate!  {to celebrate both Tyler and I!} :)

Its been a good weekend!

I didnt take a single picture of any birthday dinners but I did snap this!

Read this!

Lily is now in a Book Club with Madelyn!

This cracks me up with all the stipulations and rules....but if you cant follow them...its fine!....per Madelyn! Cant wait to see how this goes!

First up...they have to determine a date....to do a lemonade sale...to raise money! Ya know...part of the Book Club! :)

These pictures ALWAYS cracks me UP! Aubie always refuses to be still and take a picture! :) Usually Soccer doesnt care...and he really didnt today because Alexis literally woke him up and pulled him out of the chair right before we snapped the picture so he was so out of it! ha!

Tyler.........refused to take a picture too...........he never cooperates either! :)

HAPPY birthday Aubie we LOVE you! BIG 7 years old!

Alexis was honored yesterday afternoon at the JHS Honor Awards ceremony!

Wordless Wednesday!

 Soccer!

THIS cat!

No words!

He is a mess and a half....

full of life {as I like to say nicely} :)

THIS is my kitchen table!

He thinks he owns it and can sit in this!

UGGHH!! It makes me so mad because he will just look at me like...'WHAT?!?! is your problem??...I am comfortable and NOT moving!' :)

I cant keep him out the flower piece that I have that is supposed to go in it because he pulls the flowers off and then plays soccer....literally...with the flowers and shuffles them allll over the house!

Did I say...he is a mess?!?! :)

Soccer on a Monday!

Lily had another soccer game last night and though they played hard, they did not come out with the 'W.'

The other team has a couple of really good boys and our goalie got hurt so.......it wasnt pretty in the end with no win.

Dont worry....since they are the only other team....we will see them again next week for another chance! ha!

Not sure what she was doing here in this picture....but having fun is on the list! :)

In action!

Someone's last year before a new decade!

 Yesterday....Tyler turned the BIG 39!

The last year in his thirties!

He better live it up! ha! I have heard...once you hit 40, it is a whole new and different world!

Here's to his last year!

Alexis was at cheer practice so she was sad to miss out! We had to hurry and celebrate before getting ready to head to Lily's soccer game!

His favorite goodies! What could be better than a beef jerky and Twizzlers 'cake!?!?!' :)

He died out laughing when Lily and I brought it out to him as we were singing Happy Birthday! ha!

39 and fabulous! :)

Finger lickin with an outside view!

 Today was a beautiful Sunday!

We went to Church and then spent the rest of the day catching up on this and that....and writing an 8 page paper...and ya know...living life! :)

WK ended up spending the night with us last night so she went to Church with us and then came home and stayed until late afternoon followed by Camille and Madelyn coming over and enjoying the nice day.

They played and played in the basement and outside all afternoon while Tyler worked on his new grill! YES! He has been talking about one and it came on sale...so he spent the afternoon putting it together...along with revamping our {horrible} pantry! It looks great and we have more space now!

Paper...well....ya know... dont want to talk about it..

laundry: check!

cleaning up:check!

Then Nan and Pawpaw dropped off a delicious German chocolate cake............and whew....it is good!

So, that is about it to wrap up our weekend and gear up for birthday week!.....soccer...practices...Honors day...games.....submitting our paper....and MORE! It will be busy but fun week!

Two beautiful Church girls this morning!

Lickin good...and almost gone!
My outside view to end the afternoon and weekend!

Lily's soccer day!

Lily now plays on Mondays and Saturdays so we took off to Anniston to enjoy watching her and her team! They played a great game even though they lost! We enjoyed them!

Getting a pep talk to get ready to play!

The cheering section!

A girl in action!

Go Lily!

Simply Southern!

We are simply southern over here!

So far...our weekend has been perfection! The weather is becoming just so nice and we got to enjoy it today while watching Lily since our Saturdays are now filled at the soccer field!

We have had a ton of action and we still have one more day in the weekend!

Nan popped over on Friday afternoon....and these two just so happened to be matching!

Twins!

I had the pleasure of catching up with these two! It has been around !!2!! years since we have got together! Misty and I headed over to B'ham to have a yummy dinner with Kelly at Soho Social in Homewood! It was so good to catch up and eat! :)

Love how it does not matter how long it has been...we pick up right where we left off!

Then after Lily's soccer game today.................Tyler got SURPRISED! You know how much I LOVE to get him at a Mexican restaurant around his birthday so since it is Monday...........today was perfection to get him!

He kind of caught me this time...though I tried to play it off that I asked for a to go box! Well....he didnt buy that....fully!...ha!....

Well...when they all came out singing...and with the hat....he was like..'I KNEW what you were doing!' ha!

Happy early birthday! This picture cracks me up!

Wordless Wednesday...........dancing with Blake!

 OH my........

Wordless............

just no words at how fast time has flown!..........

I swear this picture was taken just yesterday! Blake's wedding weekend! Look at her looking at him!

She loved that Blake wanted to dance with her!
Fast forward to NOW!! She is as tall as him............and my goodness time has just flown!
Having fun! Lily had fun with Bill too!

Sweet moments! Blake grabbed Lily for a little bit too! We had so much fun at Meg's wedding!
