We are making it!

Well, today we are still hunkered down! The snow is slowly but surely melting away! There is still a TON of ice...which to me...is kind of worse! I just got the news that schools {for Alexis and Lily} are closed tomorrow. Still waiting the verdict if JSU is closed. Fingers crossed, but either way I will be here hunkered down still with the girls!

We are getting a little bit more stir crazy! We are for SURE going to be excited {well maybe just me} to get out of the house and have a different atmosphere once it is safer! {Even if that consists of just going grocery shopping!!} :) Speaking of grocery shopping...my grocery list was in my purse when this Snow storm hit, so needless to say...we are getting pretty slim on our food choices around here! We are going to have to make a grocery run SOON!

Other than that...all is well here! :)

Today Alexis and Lily got out EVERY stuffed animal they own...and they 'washed, dried, combed, fed and took them to the doctor!'
At least they are being productive! :)
The roads are looking a little better! No snow but on the grass!

Frozen!

Day 2...after the storm! There are still friends and family that are stranded where they work, or like my friend Jennifer, she is stranded in a hotel room with 8 of her students because they could not make it to their homes after Clinicals. Or like La La spending the night at her school with her 3rd graders!! Im sure that was an experience!! I am sooo thankful that I do not work in Birmingham anymore because I have seen where my past co~workers were stranded at work and they wouldnt let them leave due to how bad everything was. So, I am grateful I didnt have to spend the night at work! It has been great to see how much people are helping each other as they try to find help, or get their car unstuck, etc. Brandon spent all afternoon and night helping cars and directing traffic. Tyler headed out at 5:30 this morning to start helping get things better around town. He will probably be gone the rest of the day! When I spoke with him he said the roads were still horrible and that he was very busy! BUT, today is sunny....and beautiful and soon it will be back to normal! And guess what!!....next week it is supposed to be in the mid 60s! {CRAZY!}

We started getting cabin fever in the house so I decided to bundle up the girls and let them play in the snow! They had SOO much fun! Alexis said "This is just like the movie Frozen Mommy, where the 'Princess' makes everything snow and ice!" {She is almost right!} :)

Alexis just played and played! She said the snow had sooo many sparkles in it! And it actually did! It sparkled so pretty with the Sun hitting it!! Lily was some what unsure of the snow! She basically just stood in one spot...and then just followed Alexis around! :)

Bundled up and ready to go!! Yes, they had on 3..yep 3...layers of clothes! :)
 Lily's first SNOW!! 2 years old for her first snow! :)
The girls loved the snow!

Making a 'snow heart'

We stayed warm and watched Mickey Mouse A LOT! :)
We danced!!
And...the girls played 'beauty shop!!'

Yeah... a light dusting!!

Well...I have to say....James Span missed it this go around, BIG TIME! We were supposed to get a 'light dusting' of snow! Nothing major compared to other parts of the State, etc. Well, around 10:00 this morning {while at work} I looked out and it was snowing! HARD! {And sticking to the ground!}

Well...'panic mode' set in with everyone and we all started scrambling to leave and get our kids, etc and get home safely! It was the biggest mess I have ever seen trying to pick up the girls! There were cars EVERYWHERE! Cars sliding, wrecks galore, and miles of traffic at a standstill! It really was horrible! No one was prepared at ALL for what we have gotten...and for what is still to come!

Thankfully, I got the girls and after an hour later....we were home! Yes, normally it takes me 5 minutes to get the girls and get home! OH NO, not today...an hour! I am sooo thankful that I did not have to drive in from Birmingham. If I still had my old job, I would probably be spending the night tonight in Birmingham! :(

On a positive note...the unexpected snow is really pretty to look at and see! It reminds me of the Blizzard of 1993! That was unexpected too and so pretty! I remember it SO clear! We all were stranded and everything was closed down...BUT....not us! My Dad had a Hummer {from his work} and we got to go everywhere! Even with the roads closed! I thought I was the coolest person EVER!! :)

So.....it is looking like we will be hunkered down here at home until Friday! School is closed tomorrow and Thursday! Pray we dont go stir crazy!! :)

Happy birthday LaLa!!!

You're getting old....and have a little bit of grey hair! :)

Happy birthday to our LaLa!!

Ambereveryday2014!

We have had a great week. Poor Lily though has been couped up at home with her cough! :(
Pawpaw to the rescue though! They have had fun hanging out together!  Pawpaw hasnt had to many issues while hanging out at our house with her...except a couple of "not going to potty" incidents! :)

Day 21
We met Gran and Ben to eat....and on the way...Alexis tells me to look back at her! She loaded her lips down with pink lipstick that she found! :) She said she was an adult! :)
I had to put two pictures for my highlight of this day...because after Alexis told me that she wanted me to see her lips, Lily said "Mommy, take a picture of me with my lips!" She is sooo funny!

Day 22
This was how Lily was pretty much the whole week! Hanging out at home with Pawpaw relaxing and  trying to get over her cough! She could be found in comfy clothes with her "banket" and her Giraffe when I would come home for lunch! I enjoyed getting to see her in the middle part of the day this week! :)
I dont know if she enjoyed seeing me though because she knew seeing me consisted of a breathing treatment and being put down for her nap! :)

Day 23
It has been me and this cool chick heading to school/work this week! I have enjoyed her with me! She loves to tell me to crank up the music....and we sing {and sometimes dance} all the way to school!

Day 24
We met Aunt Pam, Richard, Gran, Ben, LaLa, Vic, Mallory, Nannie, Hogan, Mitchell and Brittney at Cracker Barrel to catch up and celebrate LaLa's birthday!

Day 25
AHHH.....sometimes it is nice to have some peace and quiet to myself! A Saturday morning where I didnt have to worry about getting up! I layed in bed with my nice comfy blanket and comfy socks! I got up when I wanted to!!
Yes, the girls begged to spend the night with LaLa! They were beyond excited to go with the Murphy's!
So...a day to myself! I will take that every once in awhile! :) The girls are going to the circus with Gran and Ben later on today....so....    AHHHH......   :)

Pretty feet!

Today as we headed to Church, I told the girls to let me take a quick picture or two of them in their cute outfits! {surprise surprise!}

Alexis actually didnt say anything about me wanting a picture this go around! ONLY because, she wanted me to take a picture of her with her "pretty feet!" {She has been practicing her "pretty feet" ever since we came home from the pageant!}

We met Nan and Pawpaw at Solid Rock cafe after Church and filled up on some great food and now..... ahhh.... now BOTH girls are asleep and I am about to take one too................  ahhhh.....

Notice Alexis' feet! This "pose" is what she calls "pretty feet!" She says the pageant girls walk and then stand like she is in the picture! :)

Mellow!

Ahhh...enjoying a nice long Holiday weekend! That is the way I like it! :) We have spent the weekend so far just hanging out at home! It never ceases to amaze me how much laundry and dishes there are to be done! I mean really, I feel like I just do not stop! Tyler always asks me why there is always clothes of his to put up! :) It is never ending for sure!

After finally getting clothes and dishes taken care of....OH and bathrooms cleaned, we got cleaned up and heading out for some shopping and dinner with friends! Tyler and I are becoming "pros" at Thrift Store shopping! I am telling you, there really are 'jewels' there! :) Tyler got a whole new closet today! He hit the jackpot! ha!

We always love to hang out with the Grogans and the Johnsons! After we finished up our bargain shopping, we headed to Mellow Mushroom! I have never eaten at the location in Oxford so I was excited to see how it would be! I think it is now our new favorite place to get pizza! The wings were SO good too! Tyler said he loved his pizza that he had! We enjoyed letting the kids be together...and having some adult talk! We...of course...headed to 32 degrees after for yogurt! Nothing better to top off a great night!

Alexis was ready for everyone to get there!
 And...then the tables were full!! :)

Ambereveryday2014!

Day 13
It is the little things...really...that make me happy! Soap in the work bathroom!...and it is Bath and Body Works! :)
I had to supply the soap, and then it ran out...and I didnt know it. I thought I was about to have to replace it again, and just look!! Someone put soap in there! :) It is the little things that can really highlight my day! :)

Day 14
Yomato!! YUM!! My girls wolf this down everytime! You do not have to tell them to eat when we are here! :)

Day 15
Family movie/fun night in our basement! Our basement is like a whole other world...and the girls get so excited when we go down there! {I think it is really because Daddy gives them a 'treat' bag when we go down there!!}

Day 16
Dont be alarmed! :) Highlight of this day.....getting to be a patient for our students to have their 'black out' emergency simulation! The students had NO idea what was about to happen to them! We all were patients for them...each with our own issues...and then all of a sudden the lights go out and they have to take care of us in the dark and without power! {I think I 'died' about 4 times} eekk!! But, it was a great learning experience for the students...and they loved the experience!! I did too!!

Day 17
Yeah....I need to work on my 'selfies'!! I know they are all the rave...however I dont so much like seeing them! But I had to do one with me and my girl to document our very very fun night together at the Miss JSU pageant!! I love this little best friend of mine! :)

Me and my girl!

I love love love that Alexis is getting old enough that she enjoys going and doing with me and she gets excited to 'hang out' with me and we can enjoy what we do because she acts so grown and isnt so needy! {like babies} :)

This week has been low key. We have done the same weekly groove of dance class, homework, AR reading, and a little bit of sickness. Yeah, poor Lily had a terrible bout with the stomach bug but thankfully she is back to her old self despite a small little cough and stuffed up nose. So glad we can have Pawpaw to the rescue when she gets called home from school. He took her straight on to the doctor without a problem! Thankfully too, just a little TLC and fluids without flu and RSV is what we came home from the doctor with! :)

Tonight though, Alexis and I had a great little night together! Daddy and Lily stayed home so Lily could rest and get in bed at her normal time and Alexis and I headed to the Miss JSU beauty pageant!! It was SO fun! Alexis literally was the only child there...and she did not care one bit! She LOVED being there! I kid you not...she had a smile on her face the whole time we watched the pageant! She loved the talent....with all the dancing and singing! Then she said her favorite part was the gowns! I think this is going to have to be a new yearly tradition for us to go together!

Alexis was SO excited that the "Pretty girl in the pretty pink dress that looks like you Mommy" won!! The girl that won had the same short hair cut that I do! Alexis said she looked like me! :)
{I take that as a compliment!} :) We had fun together....and cant wait until next year! :) One day....I can just see Alexis up there on the stage! :)
The stage! Alexis just could not wait for it to start! I asked her if she was excited to be there...and she said "Well of course Mommy!" :)

She RUSHED to her room when we got home and put on her "high heels" and her crown so she could pretend to be like the girls she saw! She got one of her microphones and walked around the living room singing and saying "My name is Alexis Kayte Law and I live in Jacksonville, Alabama!"  :)
Two sororities that were there had shakers and the other one snapped when their "girl" walked out on stage. So when we got home...Alexis got a "shaker" {which she thought up herself of her little sprinkle jar from her kitchen that goes with her ice creams} {pretty creative in my opinion} and she made me shake the shaker as she walked around and  made me snap my fingers for her too....just like all the girls did for their friends on stage! :)
It seems like yesterday that Alexis was up on the very same stage we saw tonight!
Circa 2012!! :) My little Queen! :)
She did SOOOO good in her pageant!! I was SO beyond proud and excited for her! She did sooo great...especially on her interview!!
And...look who won!! :)

DONE!!

I did a post a while back about a sweet little boy named Thompson Nash Wagoner! He was diagnosed with Cancer behind both of his eyes. This little boy has been through so much and during his fight with Cancer...he has captured the hearts of our entire community! He has had a lot of ups and even more downs...but throughout his journey he still always has his sweet little smile!

I am sooo happy to say that T-Nash has completed his Chemo treatments at St. Jude! He has had 11 rounds of Chemo....and now he is DONE!

He wore his 'suit' today to celebrate the BIG day! :)

So happy for this sweet little boy and his sweet family! I know they are beyond happy that he has made it through with flying colors and now can be at home and they can be a normal family again! There have been millions of prayers for him...and many millions to come in the future that he continues to heal and to BEAT Cancer! I cant wait to see this little man grow! God's got this!! :)

Ambereveryday2014!

Day 10
Highlight of my day! Coming home and checking Alexis' bookbag to see that her report card was in! She did SO good again! This is her second go around and she is improving so much!

Day 11
It was 65 degrees today and it is mid January! It was a top back and music up kind of day as I cruised to get my hair done! Ahhhh.....so nice!! :)

Day 12
Going to Church with my little family looking beautiful!!
